People’s experience

People were positive about the quality of their care and treatment. According to the 2025 National GP Patient Survey, 95% of patients who responded reported a good overall experience with the practice, above the national average of 75%. Additionally, 98% of those who responded said the healthcare professionals they saw or spoke with treated them with care and concern, which was above the national average of 86%. The practice was also recognised by NHS North East and North Cumbria as one of the highest‑scoring practices in the North East and Yorkshire region in the 2025 GP Patient Survey. This reflected positive patient experience reported through the survey. Between January 2025 and January 2026, 1,638 patients responded to the Friends and Family Test. Feedback was positive, with over 92% of respondents rating the service as good or very good. Staff from the aligned care home provided feedback regarding the standard of care delivered by the practice to their residents, noting that the care received from the surgery met their residents’ needs. The practice had recently re‑established its Patient Participation Group (PPG), with the first meeting taking place around 6 weeks before the assessment after a period of approximately 2 years without meetings. Feedback from PPG members was positive. Patients reported that the initial meeting was useful and informative, giving them a better understanding of the range of services available. Members felt able to contribute items for discussion and noted that the practice welcomed their involvement. PPG members also reported good personal experiences of care at the practice, including positive interactions with staff and no difficulties in accessing appointments when needed. A PPG member highlighted the work of the practice social worker as particularly valuable. Another noted that the meeting had increased awareness of support services, such as smoking cessation and the practice‑linked foodbank.

CQC findings and GP Patient Survey results answer different questions and may cover different time periods. Neither confirms current appointment availability, NHS acceptance, opening hours or whether a provider is suitable for you.

Check the provider’s own website and the complete official CQC record before making a decision. If you need urgent medical help, use NHS 111 or call 999 in an emergency.
