What CQC reported

The service is performing well and meeting our expectations.

People’s experience

As part of our assessment, we reviewed feedback from people who used Sherburn Group Practice to understand their views and experience of it. In feedback to the CQC, most people (around two-thirds of respondents) were positive about the quality of their care and treatment with key themes being excellent clinical care, friendly and compassionate staff, good communication, positive experience of digital services and confidence and trust in the practice. Some negative feedback was also received by the CQC however, specifically in relation to alleged long waiting times for routine appointments, dissatisfaction with the triage system used for appointment booking, patients being directed to urgent care centres, and lack of continuity of care. The general positivity of feedback was mirrored in the results of recent surveys, including the 2026 National GP Patient Survey results and NHS Friends and Family feedback, which showed most people were satisfied with the surgery. Healthwatch information from April 2025 to May 2026 was also reviewed and again was positive. Healthwatch acts as a champion for people using health and social care services, and they receive information of concern through various channels. This includes direct feedback from individuals, reports from local Healthwatch organisations, and data gathered from engagement activities like surveys and focus groups. Sherburn Group Practice had an active and engaged Patient Participation Group (PPG) who worked collaboratively with practice leaders to help improve services and patient experience. PPG members described regular meetings with the lead GP and management team, where they were kept informed of service developments, staffing changes and proposed initiatives. They reported that the practice listened to and acted upon their feedback, and that they were actively involved in supporting the practice through patient surveys, community engagement work, health promotion activities and vaccination clinics. PPG representatives spoke positively about the open and constructive relationship they had with leaders and provided examples of how their involvement had influenced service developments and helped the practice better meet the needs of its patient population. We also received positive feedback from the local commissioning body regarding the practice.

Evidence, not a league table.

CQC findings and GP Patient Survey results answer different questions and may cover different time periods. Neither confirms current appointment availability, NHS acceptance, opening hours or whether a provider is suitable for you.

Check the provider’s own website and the complete official CQC record before making a decision. If you need urgent medical help, use NHS 111 or call 999 in an emergency.
