People’s experience
People’s feedback about the quality of their care and treatment was mixed. The National GP Patient Survey showed the practice performed unfavourably compared to local and national averages. And Friends and Family Test data showed people were generally satisfied with services. There was an active patient participation group (PPG) who represented the views of people using the service. CQC received 4 pieces of feedback from the public in connection with this inspection and their experiences of the service; 4 were positive and 1 was negative. People had access to appointments provided by a range of a multi-skilled clinicians including GPs, advanced nurse practitioners, practice nurses, clinical pharmacist, paramedic and healthcare assistants. The results of the National GP Patient Survey were lower than local and national average scores for patient satisfaction. Results indicated that people found it difficult to get through to the practice by telephone and website, 42% stated they described their experience of contacting the practice as good compared to 73% locally and 70% nationally. Lower than average percentage said reception and admin staff were helpful; they got to see or speak to their preferred healthcare professional; that they felt their needs were met during their appointment; that their mental wellbeing was considered during their last appointment; that the healthcare professional they saw or spoke to was good at listening to them and they were good at treating them with care and concern during their last general practice appointment. 51% describe their overall experience of this GP practice as good compared to 78% locally and 75% nationally. It was not always evident how learning from people’s complaints and concerns led to opportunities for improvement. However, the practice did monitor patient views via the NHS Friends and Family Test and online feedback, the results of which indicated people were satisfied with services.
