The service is not performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve.

People’s experience

Feedback from patients from the various sources of information available was mixed. The most recent National GP Patient Survey results were all above average (results reported on are from 30/12/2024 to 01/04/2025). For example, the percentage of respondents to the GP patient survey who responded positively to the overall experience of their GP practice was 89.5%, while the national average was 75.4%. Feedback collected from patients directly by the practice was mostly positive. There was an active patient participation group (PPG) set up to represent the views of people using the service. They continued to raise concerns about the quality and safety of the service, and they were not assured on the progress made. They said there were common themes to feedback they shared but they remained unconvinced that the provider listened or responded to these matters. Common themes included irregularities in clinical records; continuity of care; delays in death certifications; frustration with the 8am rush for appointments and staff relationships within the practice. As a counter to this, they also told us about positives, such as the support from staff to promote the group and the good relationship they had with the reception team and their managers. They told us the practice made some changes following feedback, such as the provision of a high-backed chair in the waiting area for people with mobility issues and the availability of blood pressure cuffs in assorted sizes to improve the accuracy of readings. They told us they had also had some involvement in the ongoing recruitment for a salaried GP but expressed they would have liked a more active role in this. We had continued to receive feedback from patients both directly and through our share feedback on care webform since the last CQC inspection. In the lead up to the inspection we received 31 contacts, with the main concerns relating to clinical care including missed diagnoses, misdiagnosis, lost referrals, and concerns about end-of-life care.

Evidence, not a league table.

CQC findings and GP Patient Survey results answer different questions and may cover different time periods. Neither confirms current appointment availability, NHS acceptance, opening hours or whether a provider is suitable for you.

Check the provider’s own website and the complete official CQC record before making a decision. If you need urgent medical help, use NHS 111 or call 999 in an emergency.
